2024 IFRG meeting recap

2024 IFRG meeting recap

For 2024, the IFRG meeting was held in Antalya, where the sea, sun, history, and nature commune harmoniously. During the two days of the meeting on October 3 and 4, we welcomed a total of 87 participants from 26 countries. The IFRG provided a platform for a friendly and informative meeting, including the resort's atmosphere, with many opportunities for the participants to connect after the full-day meeting and share our passion for incubation and fertility.

The two-day program consisted of seven sessions covering various areas: fertility, hatching egg management, egg treatments, incubation, data analysis, and management-related topics. We are honored to have three keynote speakers. Dr. Anaïs Vitorino Carvalho from INRAE presented on Rooster Fertility: Diagnosis and Conservation, Dr. Dinah Nicholson, Aviagen, USA (retired) shared with us the topic of SPIDES - Turning Science into Practice and Dr. Servet Yalçın, Ege University presented Impact of Incubation Temperature on Meat Quality in Broilers. Including the abstracts from keynote speakers, there were a total of 30 abstracts presented during the meeting. At the end of the program, Dr. Michael Wineland helped the participants connect the dots of what we learned during the program, the knowledge we could bring to practice, and the gaps of knowledge that we could further examine in research.

We are looking forward to our next meeting, which is a combined workshop from the WPSA Working Group 6 (IFRG) and Working Group 12 (Physiology) organized from October 22-24, 2025. The workshop will be held at the Institute of Agricultural and Urban Ecological Projects at the Humboldt-Universität zu Berlin (IASP), Alte Mälzerei, Seestraße 13, Berlin, Germany.
